How Picnite works
Picnite is a desktop application for macOS. All operations —opening, editing, drawing, removing backgrounds, saving— happen entirely on your Mac. The app needs no account, does not connect to Ovinion servers and does not transmit your images or documents anywhere.
The 30-day trial
The free trial is activated on your device and its start date is kept in the macOS Keychain. It is not a purchase, it is not a subscription and it does not require any account.
The purchase
Picnite is distributed on the Mac App Store. Purchases and restores are handled by Apple through its own payment system (StoreKit). Ovinion neither receives nor stores card or payment data.
Data we process
The Picnite application collects no personal data. It collects no telemetry, uses no analytics, shows no advertising and creates no user profiles.
Data handled by Apple
When you use the App Store, Apple applies its own terms and privacy policies regarding your account, your device and your purchases. That data is processed under Apple's responsibility, not Ovinion's.
Website data
The website uses Ovinion Analytics, a first-party tool that creates random browser and session identifiers in local storage. It records pages visited, referrer origin, campaign parameters, engagement time and calls-to-action clicked. It does not collect the contents of your images, your name, email or payment details, and is not used for advertising or commercial profiles. The browser identifier expires after 13 months without being renewed on each visit. You can disable measurement from the cookie policy. We also store your theme preference and whether you have seen the notice locally.
When you contact us
If you use Ovinion's contact form, we process the information you choose to include (name, email and the content of your message) solely to reply to you and resolve your question or issue. That communication is governed by Ovinion's privacy policy, available at ovinion.com/privacy.
Legal basis
Because the application processes no personal data of its users, no processing basis applies to editing activity. Technical website measurement is carried out for our legitimate interest in understanding its performance and improving it. For contact communications, the basis is your consent and our legitimate interest in answering your enquiries, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679.
Your rights
When you write to us, you may request access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction or portability of the data you have provided. You may also lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority (in Estonia, the Andmekaitse Inspektsioon). To exercise any right, contact us at ovinion.com/contact.
Retention and security
Support communications are kept only for as long as necessary to manage the relationship and comply with legal obligations. Analytics events are transmitted over HTTPS and used solely to measure and improve the site.
